| We just finished a brand new record called "Winter Come Gently". This record provides a glimpse inside of a Northern Winter. The music gives a very relaxed mood to the listener. Primarily a vocal CD, there are 3 instrumentals beginning with First Snow and finishing with Winters End with January Thaw midway through the record. There are five Christmas songs with 3 more vocal numbers that relate to Winter. Throughout the liner notes are pictures of a Northern Winter with inspirational thoughts. Winter for us is a time of reflection and the preperation for new birth, a time to lay the groundwork for the coming Spring activities. Winter is also a great time to spend quiet moments with God, contemplating His glory in the stillness around us. Winter is a time to renew our commitments for the new year. Especially those commitments that pertain to our relationship with Jesus Christ. Release Date January 31,2007 |

(Our Need for a Spiritual Home)
Amy and her husband, Gary Wixtrom, share writing influences that range from Irish folk (Enya) to modern folk/rock (Counting Crows). Throughout her recording, Haven (WMG), the lyrics express her longing for the Protector and a spiritual home. We are continually trying to find experiences that give meaning to our lives. We question our existence. Why am I here? What is life really all about? Looking for happiness by obtaining more stuff will ultimately disappoint us. What we search for may very well be a spiritual home. A safe place. A place where we dont need to hide behind ego, abilities, or profession to cover our failures or flaws. The lyric to the song, Afraid of the Dark, came to Amy as she was reflecting on her early childhood. Being afraid of things unseen is a common fear but as I understand how the Father cares for me as one of His children my fears begin to dissolve. Afraid of the Dark is an encouragement to all ages about the surety of Gods presence and sovereignty, even in the midst of danger. The God of the Bible is a safe God. I can hide in a safe place. (Finding God's strength in the midst of human weakness) For the past few years life has not been particularly easy for Amy and her family. The loss of nearly all of her family has been devastating to her . Finding out she was pregnant with her first child six weeks after her mother's death, Amy went through the highs of expecting her daughter Elise, to the lows of missing her mother and knowing her mother never knew she was going to be a grandmother. When Elise was 3 weeks old Amy's husband Gary had an accident where he almost lost his right leg. A person who prefers a great deal of alone time Amy was thrust into a stessful situation where she felt she had to be superwoman to take care of all of her family's needs. With no sleep and a crushed spirit Amy gave up and told God she could not manage alone. She gave up. God sent people to help. God saved Gary's leg. After nine months they began to tour, and a year and nine months after the accident she has come out with a new recording. "Whisper", a collection of songs that reflect on our complete dependance upon God. "As time goes on and life is lived, I have become more and more aware that I must rely on the grace and goodness of the Lord for everything. Even the very breath I breathe is a gift from Him, and no matter what happens in this life, I can trust that ultimately He will take care of me." Amy signed her first record deal with Sparrow which was distributed by Capitol Records worldwide. Shreve captivates the audience as she sings her insightful lyrics while tastefully accompanied by the harp, mandolin, guitars, and percussion. The harp is a peaceful instrument, explains Amy, I would like for my music to minister to everyone who faces the fast-paced pressure of day to day living. |
